Bay
One of the oldest towns of Laguna, Bay was the first capital of the province. Its territory covered the areas of Los Baņos, Bay, and Calauan.
This small town was inhabited by settlers headed by Datu Gat Pangil and was founded sometime in 1570. The name of Bay was said to have been derived from Datu Pangil's three daughters. After they were baptized, they were named Maria Basilisa, Maria Angela, and Maria Elena. The first letters of Basilisa, Angela, and Elena were taken together and read BAE. Over time, Bae became Bay.
Called the City of Bougainvillea, Bay is known for growing bougainvillea plants profusely along roadsides, pathways and front yards in varied colors.
This small town is bounded on the north by Laguna Bay, on the east by Calauan, on the west by Los Baņos, and on the south by Sto. Tomas, Batangas.
68 Kms. from Manila, Bay is the next town to Los Banos from the South Expressway Calamba exit.
