Why can't I access an Internet?

Many computers are trying
to access the site than there are connections available. It's like the
traffic experienced on a highway that has many vehicles going through it.
-
The server where the site
is hosted could be down. Try accessing the site later.
-
The site may be undergoing
construction or upgrades.
-
The site you are accessing
could have transferred to another server. There is usually a forwarding
link that says where the new link is.

Why do I get error messages like: “Unable to locate server”, “Cannot connect
to host” or “Server does not have a DNS entry”?

The site does not exist.
This could be just a typographical error. Re-type address.
-
The server you are accessing
could be experiencing network problems.

Your System administrator
forbids the location you are going to.

Your connection to your
ISP was disconnected, try connecting again.

What does this mean: “There was no response. The server could be down or
is not responding.”?
This
error indicates that the site exists, but when your browser tried to contact
the site it could not be reached. Any of the following holds true:

The site is down or having
trouble.

The site is too busy to
accept any more connections.

If you can connect to other
sites, try to connect to the previous site later.

is my surfing slow?
There
are several factors affecting this : phone line, traffic on the site, number
of available connections while surfing that particular site, bad weather,
etc

.Several people are accessing
the same site. Try accessing at different times of the day, i.e. at earlier
or latter parts of the day.

Your browser is not configured
to use a proxy server.

How do I configure my browser to use the proxy server?
This
depends on the type and version of the browser you are using. To know what
version you are using, click on Help then About Internet Explorer or About
Communicator.

For Internet Explorer 4.*,
click on View then Internet Options. Choose Connections folder then on
the Automatic Configuration Category click on Configure button then an
address box will appear. Type at the address box http://www.laguna.net/proxy.pac

For Internet Explorer 5.*,
click on Tools then Internet Options. Click on Connections folder then
Settings. Click box that says Use automatic configuration script, at the
address type http://www.laguna.net/proxy.pac

For Netscape Navigator
3.* click on Options then Network Preferences. Click on Proxies folder
then choose Automatic Proxy Configuration. At the Configuration Location
(URL) box type http://www.laguna.net/proxy.pac

Why can't I view any pictures on every site I?

In Internet Explorer 4.* go to View then Internet
Options. Click on Advanced folder then Multimedia. Place a tick on the
box that says Show Pictures.

In Internet Explorer 5.* go to Tools then Internet
Options. Click on Advanced folder then Multimedia. Click on Show Pictures
to show images.

How do I use Netscape Mail?

In Netscape Navigator 3.*, Go to Options then
Mail and News Preferences.
At the Servers tab:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.laguna.net
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: mail.laguna.net
POP3 username: first part of your e-mail address (e.g. aira@laguna.net)

For the Identity tab:
Your Name: type your name here (e.g. Aira Rondilla)
Your e-mail: type your e-mail address (e.g. aira@laguna.net)
Reply-to-address: type your e-mail address (e.g. aira@laguna.net)
At the Mail Servers category:
Incoming Mail Server:
Click on Add button then on the General folder:
Server name: mail.laguna.net
Server type: POP3
Username: first part of your e-mail address (e.g. aira @laguna.net)
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.laguna.net

How will I know if my messages are sent?

Click on Mailbox then Out. Check the left part
of your mail. An S indicates your mail was successfully sent

Why do I keep getting the same messages?
-
Your mails are left on the server. To disable
this:
1. Click on Tools then Options or Special then Settings.
2. At the Checking Mail Category check on the right part :
Leave mail on server is unmarked.

What does this mean: “Error reading from network. Cause: connection timed
out (10060)”?
-
At the time that you were checking your mails
there could be a possible slow network connection or overloaded server.
-
The mail server you are connecting to could be
down. Refer to technical staff.
-
Your mail settings may have been corrupted. Try
to follow these steps to solve error:
1. Click on Tools, then Options and verify your settings.
POP account: aira@mail.laguna.net
SMTP: smtp.laguna.net

2. Increase the amount of
time Eudora will wait before it times out.
Go to the Tools menu, select Options OR Special then Settings
3. Click Advanced Network
Category.
4. Find the setting labeled
Network Timeout after [ ] seconds.
5. Increase the number
of seconds.
6. Click OK to save changes.

How do I fix: “Error getting Network address for… Cause: requested entry
not found?

Your connection to our server was disconnected.
Try to connect again using the Dial-up Networking Shortcut found
on your Desktop.
-
Check your Dial-up Networking connection and
verify with helpdesk if the configuration is correct.

“Your mailbox is locked by another POP3 session.” What does this mean?
-
There was an interruption while the server was
transferring your mail. A mail command from the server was executed simultaneously
which interrupted your mail transfer.
-
Two e-mail programs are accessing the same account.
-
Allow 10 to 15 minutes before checking mails
again to allow unlocking of mailbox

What does this mean: “There has been an error transferring your mail. I
said: DATA and then the STMP server said 503 Need?

You may be using nicknames. Check your address
book and see if the nickname you typed matched the one written on your
address book.

The ‘@’ sign could be missing.
-
The ‘@’ sign was typed twice or replaced by other
characters. Check your Mailbox then Out. Refer to the E-mail that was not
sent.

Why do I get “Error 11001” when checking mail?

Your mail settings could be incorrect. To check:
1. Click on Tools then Options OR Special then Settings.
2. Click on Hosts category.
POP account name: aira@mail.laguna.net

What is the difference between CC and BCC at the header of each E-mail?

The CC: header means making a carbon copy to
the e-mail addresses indicated. Recipients on the To: header will be able
to see the other e-mail addresses indicated on the CC field.

The BCC: header means making a blind carbon copy
to the e-mail addresses indicated. Recipients on the To: header will not
be able to see the other e-mail addresses indicated on the BCC field.

How do I attach files in Eudora?
1. Compose new message.
2. Click cursor on the Attached : header.
3. On the Message Menu click on Attach File.
4. Find the directory of the file you want to attach.
5. Double click on the file.
6. Eudora will automatically append the path you chose.

How can I back-up my mails?

Click on Start then Programs. At the Windows
explorer, create a new folder for your back-up files. Copy the following
files found on your Eudora directory: In.mbx, In.toc, Out.mbx, and Out.toc
to the new directory you created

1. Double-click the Inbox button.
2. Go to Tools menu and select Services.
3. Click the Add button then Internet Mail
Full Name: Aira Rondilla

Click the Advanced Option button.
4. Type your e-mail address and click OK.
5. Click the Connection Tab and make sure that the Connection
using the modem is marked. Then click OK.

How do I configure Outlook Express?
1. Click on Tools then Accounts.

2. At the Mail tab, click on Add button then Mail.
Display Name: Type your name here (e.g. Aira Rondilla)
Click Next button.

3. E-mail address : your e-mail address (e.g. aira@laguna.net). Click Next.

4. My Incoming mail server is: POP
Incoming Mail Server: mail.laguna.net.
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.laguna.net
Click Next button.

5. Pop account name: first part of your e-mail address (e.g.aira
@laguna.net). Click the Next button

6. Internet mail account name: Laguna.net.
Click the Next button.

7. Choose connection type: click on Connect
using my phone line then Finish.
